Production of Aluminum, Custom and Multi-Cavity Bait Molds

Aluminum molds

Any available bait mold design can be manufactured in an aluminum version. Price for any aluminum mold can be calculated by multiplying the price of a stone version mold by x3.2. For example, if engineered stone mold costs $10, the same mold in aluminum costs $10*3.2 = $32. Please also note that aluminum molds are 15% heavier than stone ones, so shipping costs might increase.

Difference between aluminum and engineered stone molds:

- stone molds are a lot cheaper (not so much because of material, but because it's softer, so machinery and tools to mill it are times less expensive than for aluminum).
- stone molds are a bit more sticky than aluminum, so once in every 3-5 baits it's recommended to use some worm oil
- baits produced by stone molds are a bit more dull and don't have a glossy look unless oiled
- if stone mold is dropped on the floor, there's a high probability that is cracks
- stone molds are about 15% lighter, not a big deal for usage, but might be crucial for shipping tiers
- stone molds absorb less heat, so plastisol is more likely to reach all parts with less pressure, but on the other hand - the bait will cool longer

Custom molds

We offer custom molds manufacturing for our clients. The customizations include but are not limited to - resizing and adding custom elements to designs that we already have, designing baits by provided samples or sketches. Price for design work varies depending on various factors, but typically it's in the $25-$30 range.

Recently we introduced a mold customization service for gifts. More details here

Multi-Cavity molds

Any existing or custom design can be manufactured in a multi-cavity version, meaning that you can make several baits at a time using one mold. Multi-cavity molds may have a single common injection port, or an injection port for each cavity/bait.

Common injection port:

+ You need to fill injector only once and cast once
- You injector needs to be large enough to fill complete mold at a time. Adding soft plastic to a half filled mold doesn't work
- Making two-colored bait is really challenging if at all possible

Individual injection port:

- You need to reposition injector for each bait
+ Injector really needs to be able to fill just one cavity. Rest of the cavities may be filled by re-filling the injector
+ Two-colored baits become possible

You can find a few examples of such molds on our Pinterest Page
